The National Hot Rod Association is in Denver, Colorado for the 29th Annual Mopar MIle High Nationals.  The big story for this event was how the nitro cars would do on their shortened runs.  NHRA made a decision to shorten the race from the customary 1/4 mile (1,320 feet) to only 1,000 feet.  After two rounds of qualifying Cory McClenathan and his Fram Dragster sit on top of the Top Fuel category with a 3.929 ET @ 308.07 MPH. 

Top Fuel qualifying resumes at 2:00 PM MST on Saturday, July 12.

This weekend at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, NV, the Battle of the Imports (BOTI) is making its 5th stop of the season.  Former VW drag racer Scott Kelley who currently campaigns his Toyo Tires Toyota and is currently in second place in the Pro-Stock class has worked hard with the folks at BOTI to accept some VW blood into the ranks.  This weekend there will be a few well-known Pro Racing Association (PRA) drivers running down the quarter-mile strip in Vegas, including Eric Madson, Eric Calabrese, Roger Crawford and Scott's dad the legendary Larry Kelley.  If you are in Vegas this weekend be sure to head out to the drag strip and show your support to the VW family.  Qualifying starts on Friday night at 6:00 PM and continue on Saturday starting at 5:30 PM with eliminations to immediately follow.
