DER RENN KAFER CUP - SACRAMENTO BUGORAMA

Along with the Pro Racing Association (PRA), Bugorama #59 in Sacramento, CA was also a stop on the Der Renn Kafer Cup (DRKC) 2007 schedule.  The DRKC class is for old-school Cal-Look style Volkswagen sedans (Types 1 and 3). The class is made up of show quality, extremely quick, street legal Volkswagens running normally aspirated VW cased engines. Turbo’s or Nitrous are not allowed. Mufflers must be used. Each entry gets two to three passes down the drag strip and the best two ET’s are averaged.  Then the computer takes the ET’s and show judging points and produces a set of results based half on looks and half on speed. (From the DRKC website at  www.bugin.com/drkc.htm).  The big news had to be Shawn Geers bringing out his new DRKC bug with previous owner Jesse Hardin handling the driving duties.  The car made it into the 10's, running a 10.80 ET and from what we heard the driver was taking it easy on the new car?  Lee Bushaw took the win at the first event, barely edging out Steve Byers.
