WORTH, TX (May 21, 2007) -
The Texas
Motorplex hosted the 22nd Annual Autobahn Motorsport
Southwest Championship BUG IN this past Sunday. This
was also the third event of the twelve event schedule for
the Texas Volkswagen Drag
Racing Association (TVWDRA). Heading into the weekend
Curtis Conner (91 points) holds the early season lead over
James Brooke (61 points).
In the
VDUB Folks E.T. Bracket Eliminator category Bubba Clifton of
Burleson, TX improved on his 3rd place point standing when
he defeated Carl Nolen of Ft. Worth, TX in the finals.
Both drivers broke-out in the final round with Bubba winning
by breaking out 9 thousandths of a second less then Carl.
Bubba covered the quarter-mile 11.133 ET (11.17 Dial-In) at
117.11 MPH to Carl's 11.154 ET (11.20 Dial-In) at 116.1 MPH.
Carl was first off the line with a .045 RT to Bubba's slower
0.60 RT, but he couldn't hold the lead.

The
Action Import Motors Pro Stock Eliminator was a one man show
with Damon Harmon of Irving, TX going uncontested in the
finals. Damon ran a 9.69 ET at 111.53 MPH.
The
Autobahn VW Street Trophy Eliminator category was won by
Robert Bulkley of Dallas , TX in his '64 Bug. In the
finals Robert ran a 14.862 ET at 89.1 MPH to the faster and
quicker 13.931 ET at 104.51 MPH of Jonathan Mullen of
Dallas, TX in a '95 VW Jetta to take the win.
The
Black Gold Show Car Drag Class was won by Ray Decker of Ft.
Worth, TX in his '67 Bug. Ray ran 21.112 ET at 53.33
MPH to beat Angela Mobbs of White Oak, TX who drove her '06
Touregg down the quarter mile strip at a blistering 27.825
ET at 52.89 MPH.
The
next event for the TVWDRA is June 9th, 2007 at Texas Raceway
in Kennedale, TX.
